Governor Announces New Wood Pellet Manufacturer In Greensville County
~ New company to invest $18.7 million and create 39 jobs ~

RICHMOND – The Governor’s office today announced that Wood Fuel Developers, LLC, a startup company and affiliate of Chester, Virginia-based Industrial TurnAround Corporation (ITAC), will invest $18.7 million to begin wood pellet manufacturing operations in Greensville County. Virginia Tobacco Commission Provides Emporia Grant To Assist Georgia-Pacific’s Investment For The Future

The City of Emporia announced today that is was successful in obtaining a grant in the amount of $125,000 from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission to be used for improving Georgia-Pacific’s Emporia, Va., plywood mill and training for its workforce. In addition to the grant, Georgia-Pacific plans to make a large investment in its Emporia operation of $2.75 million over the next three years for new equipment, technology and upgrades to existing equipment. About 400 people are employed at Emporia and more than 700 are employed by Georgia-Pacific in operations at Big Island, Brookneal, Jarratt, Martinsville, Milford and Skippers. READ MORE >



New Company To Locate Manufacturing Facility In Greensville County
– FASTA, Inc. to invest $7.9 million and create 150 jobs –

Greensville County, VA – Greensville County today announced that FASTA, Inc., a manufacturer of energy efficient green building components, will invest $7.9 million to locate a manufacturing facility for insulated steel and foam construction panels for use in residential and commercial building applications in Greensville County. Lowe's To Break Ground In City

Mooresville, N.C. – A new Lowe's will soon be under way at the northeast quadrant of Interstate 95 and US Highway 58. The new Lowe's store is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2008. The do-it-yourself retailer is known for helping homeowners find the right equipment and supplies to build, improve, beautify and enjoy their homes. READ MORE >



Governor Kaine Announces Quality Culvert Will Locate In Greensville County
– Company to invest $6.8 million and create 50 jobs –


RICHMOND – Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Quality Culvert Inc., a Florida-based manufacturer of plastic and concrete pipe, will invest $6.8 million to build a new 58,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the GreensvilleCounty Industrial Park. The project will create 50 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina for the project.

“It’s always exciting to welcome a new company to Virginia,” said Governor Kaine. “I applaud the aggressive efforts of the county, the local industrial development corporation and state economic development groups for making this investment and these new jobs a reality.” READ MORE >



Emporia-Greensville Region Welcomes Southside Virginia Robertson’s Doors

The Emporia-Greensville region welcomes Southside Virginia Robertson’s Door and More, LLC (SVRD) - a new business that has located at 317 North Main Street in Emporia. This family-owned business has experience in installation and service of all types of doors.

Company President, S. Jean Robertson said family members targeted the Emporia-Greensville region because of the strong regional economy and the growing number of residents and businesses in the area from Emporia to Lake Gaston and Franklin to South Hill. She credited the Emporia-Greensville Industrial Development Corporation for assisting with information about the community and helping in the decision to locate here.

The sales department, service and installation shop is already available. The showroom is slated to open in early 2007. The business will offer a wide selection of doors from Coastal, Builtmart, CHI and Ken’s-Wood garage doors. SVRD will also carry Precision custom-made entry doors of Sugarcreek Industries. SVRD will also carry a line of hollow metal doors and storefront accessories.

The company will focus on installation, maintenance and service residential, commercial, and industrial doors, including garage doors, entry doors, storm and patio doors, and French doors. SVRD will offer a line of garage door operators by Lift Master and will service all types of garage door openers.

Governor Kaine Announces Israeli Company's First U.S. Facility in Greensville County

– Oran Safety Glass to invest $4.1 million and create 50 new jobs –

RICHMOND
– Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Oran Safety Glass (OSG), Israel’s leading flat and curved glass processing company, will invest $4.1 million to open its first U.S. facility in Greensville County, creating 50 new jobs.
